The states of southern India are famous for their stonework, woodwork, potteries and metalwork. Craftwork from Tamil Nadu
The skilled artisans of Tamil Nadu are famous for unique potteries, papier-mâché and woodwork. This state is also famous for stone craft, distinctive embroidery technique and metalwork.
·         The artisans of Tamil Nadu mix clay with the pulp of wasted paper. They flatten the pulp into thin sheets. They create scenes from famous Indian epics, figurines and dolls with these malleable sheets.
·         The craftsmen from Vellore’s Arcot district produce traditional black and red earthenware. The artists of Madurai district design the black earthenware with a special yellow substance. The Panruti area is famous for the making of small clay figurines. These artists also create utilitarian items and stationery products from clay.
·         The Nagercoil, Virudunagar and Suchindram areas are famous traditional intricate woodwork. The artisans use floral/animal motifs and intricate carves on rosewood to create beautiful figurines.
·         The craftsmen/craftswomen of Tamil Nadu are famous for their unique weaving techniques. The Coimbatore is known for ‘Bhawani durries’. The artisans use silk and cotton to weave these durries. This state is also famous for Kanchipuram saris.
·         The women of Toda community in Nilgiri region are famous for attractive ‘Pugar’ embroidery. They use floral motifs and human/animal figures in this embroidery pattern.
·         The craftsmen of Thanjavur district make different types of lamps out of a variety of metals.

Craftwork from Karnataka
The accessories exporters from India love the decorative appeal and aesthetics of Karnataka’s craftwork. This state is famous for woodcarving, Channapatna toys, ivory craving and pottery.
·         The adept artists of Karnataka carve figurines, dolls, decorative items and panels out of rosewood. The Srigandha sandalwood is used to carve luxurious decorative items.
·         These artisans also use sandalwood or rosewood to create educational toys & games. The range of Channapatna toys includes planes, trams, trucks and many other products.

The artists of Kerala are famous for innovative creations with coconut shells, woods and metals.
·         The dexterous craftsmen of Kerala make lampshades, bowls, teapots, vases and cutleries out of coconut shell. They design these items with etching and/or brass inlays.
·         The artisans of Changanur district use granites to create utility items, images and figurines. The details of these aesthetic creations attest to the skills of artisans in Kerala.
·         The craftsmen of Kerala create cushions, bags, purses, hats, mats and a variety of products with screw pine.

·         This state is famous for handicraft items of bell metal casting, Rosewood, white Cedar-wood and Teak-wood.
